    Forgot Password Troubleshooting

    When attempting to retrieve a new temporary password from the storefront account signin page using the 'Forgot Your Password?' email field, the site returns the message "There is no registered user with that e-mail address!" although the user account is valid and active.

    This will occur for any Admin or Super Admin customer account when attempting to retrieve a new password using the storefront account signin page. This is a security feature to prevent errant or malicious resetting of your admin account password on the public account signin page.

    If you need to reset your Admin or Super Admin account password, please use the signin page for your admin console ( www.yoursite.com/youradmin/ ).



    New for v10

    When a shopper triggers "Forgot my password", the AspDotNetStorefront application will delete their existing password, generate a new temporary password and email it to the shopper's registered email address.  Therefore, if the outgoing email is not working, then a new password has been created but cannot be communicated - leaving the shopper in a worse position. In v10, the application will check for the status of outbound email - if it is not wired up correctly, then 'Forgot Password' will not show up for your shoppers.
