You can save time and improve your store setup experience by preparing well. Each of the following steps is optional and separate.

For New Stores & Upgrades: Prepare your template & images.

The first decision you will make as part of your upgrade is which template to use. On the left hand menu, you will see your choices - please take your time to look through carefully, read about each template's features & layout options, and click to preview each skin on our live demo store: http://superstore.vortx.com

Once you have chosen your template, it's much quicker and easier to know what size images you will need. Review the table below for recommended image dimensions for different elements of your responsive template.

Tip: If, for the first pass at your store setup, you would like to make it really easy, then you can enable the image sections (logo, banner, etc.) but leave the image upload sections blank, and our skin placeholder images will be used. You can replace them later on after you've settled on a layout.

Upgrading: Checking your connection

An upgrade is always going to need access to your live site. We will be asking you for FTP detail, which you should be able to get from your hosting company. Specifically, the Vortx Onboard application needs to be granted read/write access to your live store's /images folder.

It will waste your time if the FTP details are out of date, or inaccurate. You can test them using an FTP tool - there are many free tools available - in this example, we will assume that you have downloaded Filezilla (get it here).

Open Filezilla and use the FTP credentials that you think are accurate, entering them as follows:

Click Quickconnect and, if your credentials are accurate, then you should see your store open up in the right hand panel.

That's good enough preparation. If Filezilla says that it can't connect, then please check with your hosting company and explain that your FTP tool isn't connecting using the login details.

Check your Payment Gateway

Older versions of AspDotNetStorefront may have different payment gateway integrations than what is available in the latest version. Before you start - make sure your live store is already using one of these built-in payment gateways. You can check this by going to the Site Configuration Wizard, Site Setup Wizard, or by looking at the AppConfig value for 'PaymentGateway' in your admin console.

If you find that you're using a payment gateway that's no longer built-in, we recommend switching to Authorize.net, which is easy to set up, and is supported on all major versions of AspDotNetStorefront. You can sign up here.
